I first met Hannah and Ashley on one of my Autumn Shoot sessions which they booked not long after their engagement. Like almost every couple I speak to, they were not a fan of having a lens pointed at them. They soon found out there truly was nothing to worry about! These guys were so relaxed and happy to just be themselves, their love for each other just shines through in their photos – it’s amazing how many people comment on this!
When Hannah and Ashley spoke to me about wedding photography I couldn’t help but offer a complimentary taster shoot despite them already having had a photo shoot with me. We had just had a huge amount of snow and I knew the perfect place for a shoot. So we all managed to get to a local woodland through the 2 feet of snow and we were all so glad we made the effort! Just check out these gorgeous images;
We’d already covered so much in our shoots and had become friends, so we sat down in front of a log fire in a really cosy pub for our consultation “coffee” in a pint glass ;P This was to get all the wedding plans down on paper and make it all official. I was so excited to receive their email confirming their booking for me to capture their wedding!
Unfortunately not long after, they had some incredibly sad news about their puppy Hugo, sadly he passed away after an unexpected illness. It was a poignant moment, and I’m so thankful that we had the opportunity to capture some extremely cherished memories with him. They did eventually have a new puppy, Emmett so when he was settled with them we took some lovely Spring photos with him.
You may notice this shoot is in the same woodland where we did the snowy shoot – what a difference a few months make. I felt like we’d been through so much already let alone capturing their wedding day!
Hannah and Ashley both grew up with the Atlantic sea separating them – Ashley is from Michigan, USA, they met at university studying to be veterinarian’s and recently started working in the same practice as my wife – small world! Their wedding venue was the stunning Curradine Barns surrounded by Worcestershire’s countryside. Hannah and Ashley both got ready at the venue and as their guests slowly started to arrive everything came into place. Hannah was surrounded by her family – three generations in fact (check out the photos with Hannah, her mum and grandma) – the wedding dress (Morilee - Brides of Solihull) was hanging up ready to shine, makeup being perfected by the lovely Emma from Makeup by Jodie, and the flowers were blooming (Longhorn Flowers) in a room surrounded by smiles. Ashley was getting ready in the honeymoon suite with her childhood friend John who was helping keep the nerves as low as possible - as all best men should do. Ashley had a custom made suit made by the incredibly skilled Hemingway Tailor – I’ve seen many suits and this one was stunning – I think we all have to agree, Ashley rocked that suit!!!!! Emma also did a stunning job with Ashley’s make up.
So the suit is on, dress is on, friends and family have arrived from all over the globe and are sitting quietly, Ashley nervously awaits for her bride, Hannah takes a deep breath……and I get to watch their day unfold through a lens – what an absolute privilege to be part of something so special.
Curradine Barns is a fantastic venue. All the staff were lovely and the food was incredible (Galloping Gourmet) – perks of the job! From the moment we met it was such a lovely experience working with Hannah and Ashley, one I’ll always cherish and remember. When they received their photos they were over the moon and they still tell me that they can't stop looking thought their photos - seeing how much they loved their images is such an amazing feeling. I'm almost sad that our journey has ended…..for now, anyway!
I could go on talking through all little details from their day like the amount of work that was put into using the same tweed from Ashleys suit used in some of the decorations, the harry potter confetti (which I also saved to put into their wooden photo box)... but the photos do all the talking so I hope you enjoy looking at them – finishing late at night after an exhausting session with the Ceilidh band - Knitters Jig - ending with some interesting dance moves… ;P
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy going through their wedding photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
